DTC Mom: 2022 year in review

2022 was life-changing for me. I kicked off the year with my Q1 baby (don’t tell him I called him that). I also went all in on the parenting niche for my freelance business, and DTC Mom officially launched.

A new business focus was scary, especially when I moved on from some of my longest, most favorite clients. It all paid off though, in more ways than monetary ones. It’s been nine months of experimenting, building relationships, and finding success in small things for myself and clients.

Here’s a fun list of what I’m proud of from DTC Mom’s first official year.

2022 by the numbers

🤝 17 clients

✨ 2 Copy Refresh Sesh consult sessions (will open for more next year!)

🆘 2 subcontractors enlisted

🤱🏻 2.5 months of maternity leave

🤳🏼 2 new services/diversification (UGC and affiliate marketing)

⭐ 5 new client testimonials

🎯 1 “As seen in Target” project

🎭 24 Google alerts about some random town’s West Side Story production

🐦 3,595 Twitter followers

🤗 4 online friends met IRL (hoping to expand this more in 2023!)

📨 9 issues of The Cluster Feed sent

💌 420+ Substack subscribers

🎙️ 6 #CopyPasta🍝 Twitter Spaces hosted

🎁 4 gift guides published

And last but not least…

👶🏼 1 baby birthed!

I promise my kids are cute. We like to protect their privacy online.

A look forward

Instead of arbitrary goals and half-assed habits, I’m a “word of the year” person. 2022 was “grace” and my word for 2023 is “confidence.” I’m going to need it with efforts to build the affiliate side of DTC Mom, where I’m partnering with brands to provide value to my audience of parents.

I’m also looking forward to doing more one-off offerings for founders and brands, like my Copy Refresh Sesh and smaller service packages.

The DTC Mom blog will see some love, with posts for parenting brands about copywriting and marketing, and more resources for parents. I plan to interview a lot of cool people, catch up with not-so-new connections, and find even more wins for clients next year.

How to follow along with DTC Mom

Cheers to the end of 2022 🥂 We really hope 2023 is one to remember—in a good way.
